Using Large Format Printers

If you are looking to create a document that is larger than the standard 8.5 by 11 computer paper, you must use a large format printer. The large format printer is cable of producing images and other content on larger stock, which is effective when making a magazine, booklet, poster, or any other desired object. If you are new to using a large format printer there are just a few specific instructions you need to know, as the printer setup process is slightly different, but not overly complicated.

Open the document you want to print in the desired software, and then go into the print setup options. Here, you need to make sure you select the correct paper size you wish to print on (such as 11×17 or 18×24). This tells the printer just how large to print the information. With the printer size selected, you need to insert the correct size of paper into the large format printer. If the wrong size of paper is used, the image is either going to be cut off (when using smaller paper), or a large, white boarder is around the content (when using larger paper).

After you have selected the paper size, you need to tell the printer if you are printing via portrait or landscape. If your document is wider than it is tall, you need to select “Landscape.” If the document is taller than it is wide, you need to select the “Portrait” option. If you have the wrong selection made, part of the document is going to be cut off when it is produced in the large format printer.

When using the large format printer, if you are using a one sided, glossy paper, make sure the glossy side is inserted correctly. Read the user manual of the large format printer to see if the glossy side should be inserted down or facing up. Some printers roll the paper while producing the content, so it is important to know this. And to learn more about the subject, visit Youtube.
